Is Fluoride Safe?
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association have all stated fluoridated water is safe for children and is an effective agent to maintain good oral health.
While it generally would be very difficult for a child to reach a high toxic level of fluoride, parents should watch children around products containing fluoride. This is particularly important for children under the age of six.

Much like dental sealants, fluoride treatments are an effective way to prevent cavities and tooth decay in children and teens. Fluoride can even reverse very early/small cavities. Fluoride treatments also help strengthen developing teeth.

Fluoride Treatment Procedure
Professional fluoride treatments are often recommended every six months for children and teens during their dental cleanings. A disposable tray filled with fluoride gel or foam is placed into the child’s mouth. They bite down on the tray and our hygienist will suction out any saliva so that the fluoride isn’t swallowed. After approximately one minute the trays are removed. Patients are to not eat or drink for 30 minutes after their treatment.
I Don't Want My Child To Have Fluoride Treatments
We understand and we respect this decision at Neal Dental Care Kids. We want each family to feel comfortable and not pushed into any treatment they feel uncomfortable with. If you decide to not have fluoride treatments for your child, our pediatric dentist will discuss with you other preventative measures that should be looked into. Treating cavities is very important but prevention is best. Together we will layout a dental care plan that is best for your child.
