Bristow Children's Dental Cleanings & Exam
Our Bristow children’s dental office provides dental cleanings and exams for children of all ages. Keeping up with your child’s six-month teeth cleanings is extremely important. Kids are at a high-risk for dental cavities during the first decade of their life. Prevention is always better than treatment and typically less costly. Routine cleanings will allow our dentists to make sure proper development is taking place, catch decay and other issues early, and help set your child up for a lifetime of good oral health habits.
What Takes Place at a Dental Cleaning Appointment?
The intended goal of a dental cleaning for kids is similar to that of adults; to help them achieve a healthy, beautiful smile. To do this we will first make sure you and your child are comfortable and relaxed. Also, we’ll make it FUN! Dentistry doesn’t have to be scary or boring. Parents are welcome to stay with their kids during the cleaning and exam. We will explain each step to the child so they feel informed and a part of the process. We will clean their teeth and remove plaque and tartar build-up. The toothbrush, toothpaste, and instruments we use will vary from patient to patient mostly due to their age and how many teeth they currently have present.
During their appointment, we may recommend a fluoride treatment to strengthen their tooth enamel and to help prevent decay. To learn more about our fluoride treatments, please see our fluoride page. Once the appointment is complete, we will schedule the next six-month cleaning, and you will be on your way!

Why Keep up with Dental Cleanings & Exams?
Keeping up with your kid’s dental cleanings will help us catch oral health issues before they may get out of hand. This can save parents thousands of dollars. Also, plaque and tartar can only be removed with special tools from the dental office. If plaque and tartar are not removed, decay will set in causing your child to have cavities and possibly need fillings or even a dental crown. Primary or baby teeth are also extremely important to the development of their permanent teeth. Alignment and health of permanent teeth rely heavily on baby teeth. Having a healthy, well-functioning smile and mouth is important for everyday life as well. Like adults, confidence in their smiles can have a direct impact on one’s overall confidence.
